Default Mo Smiting secondary?

There seems to be fairly few useful secondary-profession options for Dervishes. Warrior having only 2 or so skills outside of defense skills (Ele secondary is def. too), and Mo build siding to healing/prot.

Not a problem, maybe it's just a well-balanced profession.. But are there any ideas for Dervish Mo smiters or another offensive line?

Just looking at the core skills, coupled with a Zealous mod:
[card]Strength of Honor[/card] [card]Retribution[/card] [card]Judge's Insight[/card]

[card]Signet of Mystic Wrath[/card] Obviously, these are some high-energy cost skills, but they are maintained so that isn't a problem like with Mesmers. Thoughts?

There's no reason to use a Dervish smiter, Scythes will do better damage. If you really must smite, go Mo/Me

SoH, maybe. Judge's Insight, versus undead. SoMW.. maybe as a 130 or something if you can spread your atts that thin. Otherwise, why?

Can't you say that of every secondary? I was thinking of offensive possibilities. There's not many other ones.

If the Dervish is mainly a high-damage output profession, then wouldn't it make sense for a secondary to increase that output? What else is there besides Conjure?

You can absolutely say that for every secondary. In fact, I rarely put points into attributes in my secondary profession for anything anymore, but that's my preference. If you're looking to increase damage output, the best option you mentioned above would be Strength of Honor or Retribution, because they're passive. If you're stopping every so often to cast for two seconds, viz Judge's and the signet, you're lowering your output already.

There's a reason why GvG run smiters and dervs separately. Granted, there's only one real guild that keeps or used to keep (haven't seen them play in awhile) with that formula no matter what happens. There's only so many points and so many skills you can fit on to a single bar and fitting a lot of smiting skills on a derv bar really hampers it since they need most of their skills. If this is for PvE, there are better ways of raising your damage output consistently using some of the other prayers available.

In any case, unless you are running some sort of tank for PvE, an ele secondary grants access to grasping earth which should be one of the main draws since you don't really need too many points if any to make it effective. Combine that with some wind prayers and go at it.

The former won't really help all the much, and the latter has too long a recharge. Judge's Insight has too long a casting time to be re-applied mid-battle. The only skill there that might have any real use is Retribution, but it would be fairly pointless to spec smiting for one skill. Same thing with [skill]reversal of damage[/skill] which is slightly more usefull than Retribution. [skill]Balthazar's Aura[/skill] is good but I'd rather just bring a smiting monk for that.

I thought about making a smiting derv once. It took me all of 30 minutes to scrap the character for an axe warrior.
